Rent a Car Lofoten

24 hours free cancellation; thereafter NOK 600 (standard) or full rental (late); groups P/R have a 4-week late-cancellation window.

All groups: 24 hours free cancellation from the time of booking (does not apply to bookings made less than 48 hours before rental start). Standard (except P and R): NOK 600 if cancellation occurs more than 48 hours before rental start; full rental amount if cancellation occurs less than 48 hours before rental start. Group P and R (minibus): NOK 600 if cancellation occurs more than 4 weeks before rental start; full rental amount if cancellation occurs less than 4 weeks before rental start.

The free period does not apply to bookings made within 4 weeks. Force majeure: Rent a Car Lofoten reserves the right to cancel in the event of a breakdown if no replacement vehicle is available.

Driving outside Norway requires written confirmation in advance.

Driving outside Norway requires written confirmation from Rent a Car Lofoten in advance.

Minimum age 23; valid driving licence required; written confirmation required to drive outside Norway.

Both the driver and the person responsible for the agreement must be at least 23 years old. A valid driving licence must be presented upon collection of the vehicle. Exceptions can only be made by written agreement with Rent a Car Lofoten. Driving outside Norway requires written confirmation from Rent a Car Lofoten in advance.

Renter pays ferry tickets used during the rental period.

The renter is fully responsible for all costs incurred during the rental period, including ferry tickets.

Full tank on collection and return; misfuelling not covered; NOK 500 refuelling fee if the tank is not full.

The rental vehicle is provided with a full fuel tank and must be returned with a full fuel tank. If the tank is not full on return, the renter is charged for the missing fuel and a fee of NOK 500. Misfuelling is not covered by insurance and will be charged to the renter in full.

Basic insurance: excess up to NOK 10,000. Extended insurance: NOK 0 excess. Exclusions apply.

Basic insurance covers damage to the vehicle with an excess of up to NOK 10,000. Extended insurance covers damage to the vehicle with no excess (NOK 0). Insurance always covers damage to the rented vehicle and other vehicles/persons involved in traffic accidents. The insurance does NOT cover: recovery vehicle; window damage; misfuelling; roof damage caused by standing/climbing on the roof; tyre/wheel damage from driving in unsuitable areas; lost key; engine damage caused by ignoring warnings (high temperature, low oil level, etc.); failure to report damage even when covered by insurance; damage caused by negligent behaviour; damage where the driver is unfit to operate a vehicle. The insurance is fully void if the driver is not capable of operating a motor vehicle safely at the time of the incident, including if police report the driver unfit to drive or civilian witnesses report behaviour indicating impaired driving ability. In such cases the renter is fully financially responsible for all damages incurred.

Booking cancelled 3 hours after the agreed pickup time if the renter does not show up.

If you do not show up and have not agreed otherwise with us in advance, the booking is cancelled 3 hours after the agreed pickup time.

Payment in NOK; credit card charged when ordering (standard) or ongoing (groups P and R); other methods by written agreement in advance.

Payment is made in Norwegian kroner (NOK). Any losses due to exchange rates are not covered by the lessor - this also applies in the event of cancellation and refund of paid rental fees. Standard vehicles (all except P and R): the credit card is charged when ordering. Groups P and R (minibus, including 7-, 8-, 9- and 17-seat minibuses): charged on an ongoing basis. Other payment methods must be agreed in writing in advance. Cancellation fee: NOK 600.
